It was getting late so I decided to take a quick shower and head on down to Bensonhurst to pick up some ingredients for this evening's dinner... My bus came fairly quickly and the weather was absolutely perfect -- a warm, balmy even, Spring day, the first in I don't know how long... I thought to myself that this is the perfect time for a shopping expedition! After a short 15-minutes on the bus, I got off to make a connection to a second bus...
And that is when the heavens opened up and proceeded to show me the finger! First it was a couple of drops, and then they started falling faster and harder... I knew I was in trouble when the wind started blowing pretty hard and my jeans started getting quite wet... I stood for about 8 minutes in the most torrential rainstorm I have ever experienced - the type that you're buggered even if you have an umbrella because rain hits you from ever single angle. I was soaked from head to toe and the rain was still coming down so I decided it was best to just go home, and after another 5 or so brutal minutes waiting for the bus back, my salvation finally came...
So, so much for my fabulous first introduction into CL... I really wanted to make a lovely dinner tonight complete with starter and dessert, but the forces of nature thought different. Maybe I'll make the trip out tomorrow, or next weekend, who knows?? But hopefully soon as this sure is a crappy way to start off the project.
As I am writing this, the sun is coming out again :) Well, thanks for nothing!
My shopping list (shown in my previous post) unfortunately did not survive the journey. It was carefully folded away in my front jean pocket. Please take a moment to think of my poor shopping list and how it drowned, still so young, so full of potential.

Isn't it a pity when you think you will do something, go out, and there are no ingredients you need, or some "black cat" crosses your way and you do not get round to it at all?
I find myself often in these situations, buying something and then finding no energy to cook with it... my latest swamp is a plastic box of spinach in the fridge, and I have lost count how many salad plants I have chucked!
Sorry for your shopping list. I am looking forward to reading your blog.
